[Jesus said,] âWhen you have done all that you were commanded, say, âWe are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.ââ
Luke 17:10
I am thankful for all I have been able to do, by Godâs grace, in the service of my Savior. But I havenât done all that I was commanded to do as a servant of Christ â not even close. I have guilt and regrets at times for all the things I should and could have done.
At those times when you are weighed down by guilt, be assured that God âdoes not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquitiesâ (Psalm 103:10). And when you come forward to the Lordâs Supper, leave all your guilt and regrets at the foot of the cross. Then return home with Godâs assurance that your guilt has been removed âas far as the east is from the westâ (Psalm 103:12).

Gracious Lord, grant me a humble heart to pray at the end of each day, and the end of my life, âI am your unworthy servant. I have only done my duty.â Amen.
Reflect: When guilt and regrets weigh you down, remember that you are forgiven.
